Senator Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North, has died in the United Kingdom where he was receiving treatment.
The news was confirmed by Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in separate statements.
Kalu described Ezea as a “man of humility, integrity, and steadfast faith” and a dear friend and colleague.
He recalled their shared Catholic faith and moments of prayer together, saying Ezea’s legacy of service and faith will continue to shine.
Akpoti-Uduaghan remembered Ezea as “wise and gentle,” saying his prayers kept her going through dark moments.
Ezea was the only Labour Party member in the National Assembly from Enugu State, and his death is a significant loss to the state and nation.
