Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has resumed training following a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty with Nigeria in September 2025.

The 29-year-old full-back limped off in the 10th minute of Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and subsequently underwent surgery. He is now expected to return to action for Forest next month.

Aina’s comeback is a timely boost for head coach Sean Dyche, who is striving to guide the Tricky Trees out of the relegation zone. The former Chelsea player will also aim to regain full fitness ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to kick off in Morocco on December 21.

The injury had forced Aina to miss Nigeria’s last four matches, making his return a welcome development for both club and country.
