Prince Bayo Osiyemi, the former Chief Press Secretary to the first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, has passed away at the age of 75. Nicknamed “Charming Prince”, Osiyemi died on Monday, November 24, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to the people of Lagos State.
He was a former Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Matters to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and a former Chairman of Mushin Local Government Area.
Osiyemi was also a respected journalist, serving as Editor of Lagos News and Chief Executive of Penby Communications, and was a weekly columnist for The Nation Newspaper.
Born on February 4, 1950, to the families of Sisu and Arowosugbo of Ijebu Igbo, Osiyemi was a member of the Arowosugbo Dynasty, and was known for his charming personality and commitment to public service.
The family has announced plans for a memorial service, but details are yet to be confirmed.
