The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a directive prohibiting the use of smartphones and other smart devices by staff members on Grade Level 14 and below within office premises during working hours.
The ban, effective December 1, 2025, covers smartphones, smartwatches, and internet-enabled gadgets, with secure storage cabinets provided for staff to deposit their devices.
According to the circular, only basic ‘torchlight’ phones without internet capability will be permitted for essential communication during office hours.
Management staff have been directed to enforce the policy and ensure strict compliance, with disciplinary action for any violation.
