The Nigerian military has repelled a large-scale assault by over 300 Boko Haram terrorists on Chibok, Borno State.
Troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 4 Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), contained the attack, which was launched at around 3 am on Saturday.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) also carried out airstrikes, neutralizing scores of fleeing fighters.
The terrorists had launched a coordinated multi-front attack on the community, aiming to breach defensive positions and overwhelm deployed troops.
However, the troops were alert and professionally contained the attack, with no casualties or equipment damage reported.
The NAF conducted four major airstrikes along the terrorists’ withdrawal route, guided by real-time intelligence from troops on the ground, inflicting substantial losses on the fighters.
An unmanned aerial platform also maintained continuous surveillance and engaged retreating fighters.
