South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s threat to exclude South Africa from the 2026 G20 summit, affirming the country’s status as a founding member.
Ramaphosa described Trump’s claims of “genocide against Afrikaners” and land confiscation as “blatant misinformation”.
Despite the diplomatic rift, US businesses and civil society groups participated in G20 events in Johannesburg, and Ramaphosa emphasized South Africa’s commitment to maintaining dialogue within the G20 framework.
