Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas will formally join the AllD Progressives Congress (APC) in January 2026, according to the party’s state chairman, Ibrahim Tukur.

The governor had earlier postponed his planned defection, citing the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State as the reason.

Tukur stated that Kefas has already been admitted into the party at the ward level and has met all membership requirements.

He added that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly and the entire state executive council have also joined the ruling party.

The APC chairman cited the busy schedule in December, with Christmas and New Year celebrations, as the reason for postponing the official reception to January.

He assured that the party leadership has unanimously agreed on a suitable date in January for the event.
