Bola Oyebamiji, the immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun State governorship election.
His emergence followed a motion moved by governorship aspirants Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Senator Babajide Omoworare at the primary election venue in Osogbo, which was unanimously supported by the 1,660 delegates present.
The Chairman of the APC governorship primary committee, Governor Monday Okpebholo, declared Oyebamiji the party’s candidate, citing the consensus agreement reached among aspirants.
Okpebholo emphasized the importance of unity, expressing confidence that Oyebamiji’s candidacy would secure the party’s victory in the 2026 governorship election.
Oyebamiji, who accepted his nomination, pledged to foster productivity and people-oriented projects, promising to make the leaders and people of Osun proud.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola for their support.
Former National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who was initially disqualified from contesting, has accepted Oyebamiji’s emergence as the consensus candidate, citing President Tinubu’s guidance.
Omisore emphasized his loyalty to the party and the president, stating that he would work with the consensus arrangement.
