The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed, has disowned a statement circulating online purportedly responding to corruption allegations made against him by billionaire Aliko Dangote.
In a disclaimer, Ahmed stated that the statement did not originate from him and that he neither authored nor authorized it.
He expressed confidence in the investigative process, saying the matter has been taken to a formal investigative body.
Dangote had accused Ahmed of spending over $7 million on his children’s education in Switzerland without a lawful source of income.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has declared it will investigate the petition lodged against Ahmed.
