Farouk Ahmed has resigned as Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) amid corruption allegations leveled against him by Dangote Group Chairman Aliko Dangote.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced Ahmed’s resignation and the departure of Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as NUPRC CEO and Saidu Mohammed as NMDPRA chief, pending Senate confirmation.
Ahmed had faced probe over allegations of financial impropriety, which he denied, calling Dangote’s claims “wild and spurious”.
