An angry mob in Dansadau town, Zamfara State, attacked state lawmaker Kabiru Mikailu, who represents Maru South Constituency, over allegations of poor performance and neglect.
The incident occurred when Mikailu accompanied Governor Dauda Lawal on a visit to the community.
Residents accused him of neglecting the area since his election, failing to visit or engage with constituents during major events, and not attending Sallah festivities or commiserating with families affected by bandit attacks.
Security operatives intervened to restore calm.
Governor Lawal, who was in Dansadau to flag off the reconstruction of the Dansadau-Gusau road, assured residents of his administration’s commitment to restoring security, rebuilding infrastructure, and improving welfare in affected communities.
