A helicopter on a medical rescue mission crashed on Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro on Wednesday, killing all five people aboard, according to the country’s civil aviation authority.
The crash occurred near the mountain’s Barafu Camp at an altitude between 4,670 and 4,700 meters.
Citing the regional head of police, local media reported that the victims included a guide, a doctor, the pilot, and two foreign tourists whose nationalities were not disclosed.
Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest peak and a popular destination, attracting approximately 50,000 tourists each year.
