Several people were abducted today along the Omi-Odo Ara Road in Kogi State’s Yagba West Local Government Area, adding to a recent surge of kidnappings that has left communities on high alert.
This incident follows a chaotic Sunday night attack in the nearby Odo-Ere community, where heavily armed gunmen moved from house to house, firing sporadically and kidnapping at least four residents.
The victims of the Sunday attack were identified as Engr. Shina Ajere, Kehinde Afolabi, Damilola Ogun, and a woman known as Iya Lara.
These events come just days after a Living Faith Church pastor was kidnapped on Saturday in the neighboring Ijumu Local Government Area while on his way to his farm.
The pastor was later released unharmed and reportedly without any ransom being paid.
Despite some recent successes where security forces rescued over a dozen victims from bandit camps, residents are calling for a greater security presence to counter the repeated attacks that have plagued the region.
