The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has forcefully rejected the suspension of its Kano State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, calling the move “misplaced, undemocratic, null, void and of no effect whatsoever”.
The controversy began on Monday when some executive members in Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, suspended Dungurawa, accusing him of causing division within the party.
Following this, the state’s executive committee even appointed an acting chairman.
However, the NWC swiftly intervened, condemning the suspension as a “gross anti-party activity” that violates the party’s constitution, explaining that a ward-level executive does not have the authority to remove a state chairman.
In a statement, the party’s national leadership praised Dungurawa as a “conscientious, hardworking, and dutiful chairman” and reaffirmed he remains the legitimate head of the party in Kano.
