The Rivers State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a substantial ₦1.854 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year.
Christened the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” the spending plan is designed to complete ongoing projects, advance new initiatives in critical sectors, and settle outstanding obligations despite the challenges confronting the administration.
Speaking after the council meeting on Friday, the Special Adviser on Economic Matters, Professor Peter Medee, explained that the budget prioritizes infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and human capacity development.
The proposal will now be sent to the Rivers State House of Assembly for legislative review and approval.
