Hosts Morocco booked their place in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 after a convincing 2-0 victory over Cameroon on Friday night in Rabat.

Goals from Brahim Díaz in the 26th minute and Ismail Saibari in the 74th sealed the win for the Atlas Lions at a packed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. Morocco dominated possession and controlled the game, ending their long wait for a first AFCON victory over Cameroon.

Díaz’s opener, finished after a corner from Achraf Hakimi, marked his fifth goal in Rabat and made him only the second player in AFCON history to score in five consecutive matches. Saibari later wrapped up the win with a calm finish at the back post.

The result sends Morocco into the last four, where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Algeria and Nigeria, as they continue their quest for a second AFCON title.

Earlier in the day, Senegal also secured a semi-final spot with a narrow 1-0 win over Mali in Tangier. Iliman Ndiaye scored the decisive goal in the 27th minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping error.

Mali were reduced to 10 men just before half-time when captain Yves Bissouma was sent off, making their task more difficult despite a spirited second-half display.

Senegal managed the game professionally to see out the win and will now face the winner between Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire in the semi-finals.
