Following the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July 2025, the race to fill the vacant Awujale of Ijebuland stool is underway, with 94 princes and one princess from the Fusengbuwa ruling house vying for the title.

At a nomination meeting on Monday in Ijebu Ode, the ruling house finalized its list of 95 hopefuls, which includes notable figures like ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Kunle Hassan and lawyer Princess Oluwakemi Onanuga, the sole female candidate.
