A Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial primary, sacking Dr. Wole Oluyede as the party’s candidate for the 2026 election.
The ruling came after fellow aspirant Prince Funso Ayeni challenged the process, alleging that the approved delegate list was manipulated on election day, which compromised the fairness and transparency of the vote.
In his judgment, Justice Babs Kuewumi found there was a “gross abuse of process” and a clear disregard for the party’s own electoral guidelines, ordering the PDP to conduct a fresh primary.
While the PDP’s South-West Zonal Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, confirmed the party’s intent to appeal the ruling, he insisted that their campaign mobilization efforts would continue without distraction.
