At least one person has been hospitalised after a fire outbreak destroyed more than 76 temporary shelters housing Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ngamma village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, Northeast Nigeria.

The affected families are mostly IDPs who fled violence in neighbouring Borno State and had been taking refuge in the community.
Acting on the directive of Governor Mai Mala Buni, officials of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage.

A preliminary assessment showed that one person sustained injuries and was taken to hospital, while an entire household was completely razed by the fire. The inferno also consumed livestock and several bags of foodstuffs, worsening the hardship faced by the displaced families.

Eyewitnesses and victims, many of whom were left in tears, described the scale of their losses and appealed to the government and humanitarian organisations for urgent assistance and relief support.
