An aircraft carrying 248 passengers and 12 crew members made an emergency landing on Friday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, following a technical fault.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
According to the agency, the aircraft developed a technical problem while airborne within Nigerian airspace, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency and divert to Lagos.
LASEMA said it received a distress alert through its 767/112 toll-free emergency lines and immediately deployed its response team to the airport.

“The pilot executed a safe landing on the runway at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, with LASEMA Response Team and other emergency responders on high alert,” the statement said.
It added that emergency agencies worked collaboratively to manage the situation, after which the aircraft was moved to the apron for a thorough inspection and necessary repairs.

“All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft. No injuries or loss of life were recorded,” LASEMA stated.
Despite the technical issue and emergency landing, the agency noted that there was no significant damage to the aircraft. “The aircraft has been secured on the apron, and recovery activities have been completed,” the statement added.
