Sevilla forward Akor Adams marked his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in style on Monday, scoring twice off the bench to earn his side a 2–2 draw against Elche and end a four-match losing run.
The Nigerian striker, who featured prominently for the Super Eagles during their AFCON campaign in Morocco, was introduced at the start of the second half and inspired a dramatic comeback for Sevilla, who had failed to score in their previous four outings.

Elche made a bright start and went ahead within the opening 15 minutes when Martim Neto slipped a clever pass to Aleix Febas, who struck from the edge of the box past Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos. The hosts doubled their lead shortly after the break, with Germán Valera finishing calmly to put Elche in firm control.
Adams quickly changed the momentum after coming on, pulling one back to register Sevilla’s first competitive goal in five matches. As the game wore on, Sevilla pressed for an equaliser and were rewarded deep into stoppage time when referee Ricardo de Burgos pointed to the spot for a handball in the Elche penalty area.
Adams kept his composure to convert the penalty, completing his brace and rescuing a point for the visitors.

Fellow Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke, who also returned from AFCON duty, was introduced in the 65th minute and played a role in helping Sevilla avoid defeat. Both players had been cleared to feature after arriving back in Spain on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Adams featured in all seven of Nigeria’s matches at AFCON 2025, scoring twice and providing two assists as the Super Eagles finished third. His impact against Elche underlined his growing importance to Sevilla as they look to revive their domestic campaign.
