Nominees vying for the Awujale stool in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, have been asked to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office for a security check.
This follows allegations of irregularities and inducement in the selection process, which led to the halt of the process by the Ijebu Ode Local Government Area chairman, Dare Alebiosu.
The DSS office is located along the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Road in Ijebu Ode, and nominees are expected to report promptly at 11:00 a.m.
The move is aimed at ensuring that individuals with questionable characters are not allowed to participate in the process.
The decision was made in accordance with the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2021, which empowers the government to set aside an appointment if it’s in the interest of peace, order, and good government.
