A Department of State Services (DSS) witness, Cyril Nosike, testified in court today that a post by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, describing President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal,” generated tension and threatened public safety.
The post, made on Sowore’s X platform, referenced President Tinubu’s statement in Brazil that there’s no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria.
Nosike, a DSS official, said he detected and monitored the post on August 26, 2025, and downloaded it as evidence.
The court admitted the flash drive containing the post and a certificate of compliance as evidence. The video showed President Tinubu speaking about his administration’s achievements and encouraging Brazilian businesses to invest in Nigeria.
The DSS has charged Sowore with cyberstalking, alleging his post was false and intended to cause a breakdown of law and order. Sowore’s lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, requested time to study the witness’s testimony before cross-examining him. The case has been adjourned to January 27 for continuation of hearing.
