The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has taken over the prosecution of the criminal case against Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mike Ozekhome, from the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
This development stalled Ozekhome’s planned arraignment before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, January 26, 2026, on a three-count charge of forgery and other related offences.
When the case was called, Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), representing the AGF, informed the court of Fagbemi’s decision to take over the case, citing Section 174 of the Constitution. ICPC’s lawyer, Osuebeni Akpomisingha, did not object to the takeover.
The charges against Ozekhome stem from allegations of presenting forged documents to claim ownership of a London property, with the ICPC accusing him of creating false Nigerian identity documents and using them to pursue the ownership claim.
