Former Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Osigwe has formally petitioned the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) over unpaid salaries and the retrieval of his CAF B Coaching Licence from Kun Khalifat FC.

Osigwe resigned as head coach of Kun Khalifat FC in December 2025, claiming the club owes him three months’ salaries and other entitlements. He told Completesports.com that the petition followed unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter directly with the club.

Beyond the salary arrears, Osigwe’s main concern is the return of his CAF B Coaching Licence, which was used to register Kun Khalifat FC with the NPFL.

“Kun Khalifat FC was registered with my CAF B Licence, as the NPFL requires that a club’s technical department be headed by a CAF B-licensed coach before registration,” Osigwe explained.

“That was how my coaching licence was used to register Kun Khalifat FC, with my name listed as Technical Adviser. Now that I am no longer with the club, I want my licence returned. I also want them to pay my outstanding salary arrears.”

Osigwe, who is fondly remembered for his spectacular goal against Czechoslovakia at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, is expected to submit his petition at the NPFL Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, barring any last-minute changes.

“I had reported this matter to the NPFL earlier, but they asked me to make it official, which is exactly what I have done,” Osigwe said.
