The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a five-count charge of terrorism financing and illegal firearm possession.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition without a valid license.
The prosecution alleges that Malami, while serving as AGF, refused to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers whose case files were forwarded to his office, constituting an act of terrorism financing.
The defendants were found in possession of a Sturm Magnum 17-0101 firearm, 16 live Redstar AAA 5.20 cartridges, and 27 expended cartridges.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the matter to February 20 for hearing of the bail application and possible commencement of trial.
