A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has sentenced former Nigerian Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank Managing Director, Robert Orya, to 490 years in prison.

Orya, who led NEXIM Bank between 2011 and 2016, was convicted on Thursday, February 5, after being found guilty of multiple fraud-related charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC accused Orya of misappropriating N2.4 billion, and he was prosecuted by the commission’s counsel, Samuel Ugwuegbulam.

Justice F. E. Messiri convicted Orya on all 49 counts and sentenced him to 10 years in prison for each charge. The court, however, ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
