Gunmen attacked a Catholic priest’s residence in Kaduna, Nigeria, killing three people and abducting the priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, along with 10 others.
The assault occurred around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, with security forces engaging the attackers and pursuing them.
The incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in the region, with Amnesty International accusing the government of “gross incompetence” in protecting civilians.
The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling for prayers for the safe release of the abducted victims and the repose of the souls of those killed.
The US President has also criticized Nigeria’s government for failing to protect Christians, a charge Abuja denies.
