Egypt has appointed General Ashraf Salem Zaher Mansour as its new Defence Minister, replacing General Abdel Majeed Saqr, who took office in July 2024.
Mansour, former Commandant of the Egyptian Military Academy, was sworn in by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, following approval from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
The appointment is part of a limited cabinet reshuffle, approved by the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
The reshuffle aims to prioritize economic stability and development, amid challenges including an ailing economy and regional conflicts.
