The slain guard, Raimi Ogunrinde, was part of a team recently deployed by the Kwara State Government to strengthen grassroots security. His wife remains in captivity, with kidnappers demanding a ₦100 million ransom.

The community is reeling from the shock, with residents describing the incident as heartbreaking and a severe blow to local security.

Residents suspect the attack may be linked to an earlier kidnapping incident, with one of the released victims allegedly recruited as an informant.

The Kwara State Police have confirmed the attack and assured efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted woman and apprehend the perpetrators.

This incident marks the second fatal attack on forest guards in recent weeks, highlighting the escalating insecurity in the region.

The community is calling for urgent government intervention to restore peace and security.
