Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after representing Nigeria at the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government and the 30th AU General Assembly held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from February 14 to 15, 2026.
Shettima attended the summit on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, participating in discussions themed “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063”.
The summit aimed to address key issues affecting Africa’s development, focusing on sustainable water management and sanitation, crucial for the continent’s economic growth and poverty reduction.
Shettima’s attendance underscores Nigeria’s commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable development, as the country seeks to strengthen its partnerships with other African nations and contribute to the continent’s progress.
The Vice President’s delegation likely engaged with other leaders on strategies to enhance water security, improve sanitation infrastructure, and accelerate progress towards achieving Agenda 2063 goals.
