The three individuals accused of murdering 22-year-old Nigerian student and e-hailing driver Isaac Satlat made their first court appearance on Monday in Pretoria.

Dikeledi Mphela, Goitsione Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana, who face charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances, were arrested last week in connection with Satlat’s killing.

The suspects, reportedly having abandoned bail, were brought before the Pretoria Magistrate under heavy security. Courtroom footage showed the trio making their initial public appearance since their apprehension.

The murder, which occurred while Satlat was reportedly on duty as an e-hailing driver, has triggered outrage in both South Africa and Nigeria. Authorities continue to investigate the incident and the circumstances surrounding his death.
The case has reignited calls from Nigerian communities and advocacy groups for stronger protection of expatriates and stricter measures against violent crimes targeting foreign nationals.
