Kenya’s main airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), is returning to normal operations after a two-day strike by aviation workers was called off following an agreement with the transport ministry.

The strike, which began on Monday, had caused significant disruptions, including cancellations, delays, and diversions, affecting hundreds of passengers.

Transport Minister Davies Chirchir stated that aviation contributes immensely to Kenya’s economy and assured that the sector would remain stable.

Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for updated flight schedules.

The Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) had initiated the strike over unresolved grievances, including pay and poor working conditions. The union accused the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) of stalling salary negotiations and discriminating against workers.
