The Rivers State House of Assembly has suspended impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention.
The decision was made during the Assembly’s resumed sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The impeachment process began in January, with allegations of gross misconduct against Fubara and Odu.
However, the process faced legal and political hurdles, including a court order restraining the Assembly from taking further steps.
