Nigeria’s faith leaders are calling for unity, peace, and mutual respect as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season coincide this year.
Distinguished Professor Amidu Sanni, Waziri Kulliyyat Ibadanland and former Chief Imam of Lagos State University, emphasized the significance of this rare alignment, saying it’s a reflection of the institutional oneness preached in divine messages.
In a Ramadan message, Professor Sanni highlighted the central lessons of Ramadan, including total submission to Allah, self-restraint, and comprehensive discipline in personal and communal life.
He appealed to Muslims, Christians, and all Nigerians to embrace mutual love and respect, and support governments in ensuring a better life for all.
President Bola Tinubu also extended warm greetings to Nigerians, noting that the coincidence of Lent and Ramadan underscores the deep spiritual bonds that unite Nigerians across religious lines.
He urged citizens to strengthen good neighborliness, promote stability, and offer prayers for Nigeria’s security and progress.
