Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka was instrumental in Coventry City’s 2–0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Championship on Saturday, helping the Sky Blues secure a rare away win at The Hawthorns.

First-half goals from Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni sealed the win, with Onyeka’s commanding midfield display earning him Man of the Match honors.

Speaking after the game, Onyeka highlighted belief, defensive discipline, and momentum as key to Coventry’s success. “It’s a great win away from home. We just keep going, stay organised, and don’t give them anything,” he said, reflecting on how the team blunted West Brom’s attacks.

Coventry wasted no time taking control. Within five minutes, Mason-Clark capitalised on a midfield interception sparked by Onyeka’s pressure to score the opener. Rudoni then doubled the lead in the 32nd minute with a stunning long-range strike. Despite West Brom’s second-half push, Coventry’s defensive structure held firm, with Onyeka shielding the backline and goalkeeper Carl Rushworth keeping a clean sheet.

The win marks consecutive league victories under manager Frank Lampard and boosts Coventry’s promotion ambitions, while West Brom’s winless run continues. Onyeka’s performance reinforced his importance in midfield and his growing influence at the club.
