The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Ungogo and Kano Municipal by-elections for the Kano State House of Assembly.
The by-elections were held to fill two seats that became vacant after two lawmakers, both members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), died in December 2025.
Aminu Sa’ad, the APC candidate, secured 8,975 votes to win the Ungogo constituency, while Aliyu Nabil Daneji polled 7,484 votes to emerge victorious in Kano Municipal. Notably, the winners are the sons of the deceased lawmakers.
The elections saw low voter turnout, attributed to factors like Ramadan and limited party participation. Major opposition parties, including PDP, NNPP, and ADC, were absent from the ballot papers.
