Fifteen lawmakers, including Speaker Bathiya Wesley, have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, citing the party’s national crisis.
The lawmakers are expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who’s reportedly finalising his defection plans.
The resignations, announced during Wednesday’s plenary, include Deputy Speaker Buba Jijiwa and other prominent PDP members.
They commended the PDP for the opportunity to contest and win elections but cited the party’s internal struggles as the reason for their exit.
Fintiri recently hosted APC leaders in Adamawa, indicating a possible shift in allegiance. The APC has postponed its state congresses, likely to accommodate Fintiri and his allies.
