Nigeria’s Super Falcons suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly played at the Military Stadium in Yaoundé on Saturday.
The reigning African champions dominated possession for large periods of the game and dictated the tempo, but struggled to convert their chances into goals. Rasheedat Ajibade and Jennifer Echegini provided attacking impetus, yet Cameroon’s defence remained resolute.

Head coach Justine Madugu introduced several changes in the second half as Nigeria searched for a breakthrough, but the deadlock persisted.

With the match heading towards a draw, Cameroon struck late through Mbomezomo Yvana, who capitalised on a defensive lapse to score the decisive goal.

Both teams will meet again at the same venue on Tuesday, March 3, in the second friendly, as they continue preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
