The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal filed by the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rejecting their claim that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over a case concerning the party’s planned national convention in Ibadan.

A three-judge panel delivered the judgment in nine consolidated appeals brought by the Turaki faction, which challenged a lower court order barring the PDP from holding its convention scheduled for November 14–15, 2025.

In a unanimous ruling, the appellate court upheld the lower court’s decision, confirming that the Federal High Court was competent to hear the case. The judges rejected the faction’s argument that the dispute was purely an internal party matter.

The panel noted that the appellants could not “repackage a clear violation of the party constitution and that of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as an internal party affair.”
The appeal was dismissed, and the court awarded N2 million in costs against the Turaki-led faction.
