The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo Football Federation, Jean-Guy Blaise Mayolas, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of several financial crimes.
The ruling followed an eight-month investigation into alleged financial misconduct within the federation.
According to reports by BSNsports, Mayolas was convicted of money laundering, embezzlement, forgery and the use of forged documents. The court delivered the judgment in his absence.

Two other senior officials of the federation were also convicted in connection with the case. The Secretary General, Badji Mombo Wantete, and the Treasurer, Raoul Kanda, were each sentenced to five years in prison for their roles in the financial offences.
The convictions represent a major development in ongoing efforts to address allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement within the football governing body in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Authorities say the case highlights the need for stronger accountability and transparency in the administration of football in the country.
