A drone attack in Goma, eastern Congo, has claimed the lives of at least three people, including a French aid worker, according to the UN and AFC/M23 rebels.
The attack, blamed on the Congolese army by the rebels, targeted a densely populated urban area, killing a UNICEF employee and two civilians. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack, calling for respect for international humanitarian law.
The strikes come amid intensifying drone operations on both sides of the conflict, raising concerns about security near Rwanda’s border.
The US recently imposed sanctions on Rwanda’s defence force over alleged support for AFC/M23 rebels, which Rwanda denies.
