Four members of the House of Representatives have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers, Inuwa Garuba, Abdullahi El-Rasheed, and Mohammed Audu from Gombe, and Obika Chinedu from the Federal Capital Territory, cited internal crises in their former parties as the reason for their defection.
Adewale Adebayo, who represents Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu federal constituency of Osun state, also formally joined Accord from the PDP.
Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House, read the defection notices during Wednesday’s plenary.
The defections are likely to impact the balance of power in the House of Representatives.
The APC is expected to gain strength with the addition of these lawmakers.
