Several passengers were injured when an Abuja-bound Kaduna train derailed near Asham on Monday.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the derailment.
NRC Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, said the injured passengers were taken to Idu train station for medical attention, and fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
The NRC is working to ascertain the cause of the incident, but previous reports suggest human error, excessive speeding, and faulty track switches may have contributed to the derailment.
The Abuja-Kaduna railway is a vital transport corridor, and safety concerns have been raised following previous attacks and operational mishaps.
The NRC has promised to implement robust measures to restore trust in the railway service.
