The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has lost its petition against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) over the eligibility of some players used by the DRC in a 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off match.
The NFF had protested the eligibility of some players in the DRC squad, citing perceived fraud in the issuance of passports.
However, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee rejected the petition, prompting the NFF to appeal the decision. “We have received the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on our petition, but we are not satisfied with the decision, which rejected our petition,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.
The DRC has been drawn to face the winner of the clash between Jamaica and New Caledonia, with a place at the 2026 tournament at stake.
