Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is set to deliver a sermon at Lambeth Palace, the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, on Thursday, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to the United Kingdom. This marks Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in nearly four decades.
The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the UK, with discussions on trade, investment, security, and cultural exchanges.
President Tinubu and his wife arrived in London on Tuesday, meeting King Charles III and Prince William, and will attend a state banquet at Windsor Castle.
Oluremi Tinubu, an ordained pastor, will also meet representatives of the Church of England, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to faith-based diplomacy.
The visit comes amid Nigeria’s efforts to address jihadist insurgency and follows suspected suicide bombings that killed 23 people in northeastern Nigeria.
