A Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the bail application of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to March 31, 2026.
El-Rufai was arraigned on one count of alleged money laundering and conversion of public property, relating to deposits into a domiciliary account and monetization of earnings, alongside co-defendant Joel Adoga.
The arraignment proceeded despite pending proceedings involving the same judge, with no bail sought or granted.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, stated that nothing problematic occurred and the defense is yet to be served on other potential cases.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had filed charges against El-Rufai, alleging financial misconduct during his tenure as Kaduna State governor.
The prosecution opposed the bail application, citing the seriousness of the charges and potential interference with ongoing investigations.
