Musiliu Akinsanya, National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, on Tuesday regained control of the union’s national secretariat in Abuja after a rival faction briefly occupied the facility.

Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, visited the secretariat to inspect reported damage following the takeover by a faction led by Tajudeen Baruwa.
Baruwa’s group had earlier taken over the office on Monday, citing court rulings in their favour. He maintained the action was lawful and not forceful, stating that the union had obtained judgments from both lower and appellate courts and had notified the police.

However, Akinsanya dismissed the move as a “forceful takeover,” noting that he was not a party to the judgment cited and that the ruling had already been appealed with a stay of execution in place.
He assured members that security agencies were in control of the situation and urged calm as the leadership dispute within the union continues.
