A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Senator Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, the factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over his failure to appear in court for arraignment on a charge of giving false information to the police.
Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was supposed to be arraigned on a one-count charge brought against him by the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Despite being served with the charge and a hearing notice, Turaki failed to attend court, prompting Justice Peter Kekemeke to issue the arrest warrant.
The court has adjourned the case till April 22 for Turaki’s arraignment. The charge alleges that Turaki gave false information to the IGP against one Saidi Mohammed Mainasara with intent to use the lawful power of the IGP to the injury or annoyance of Mainasara.
