President Bola Tinubu has criticized opposition parties for attacking the Electoral Act 2026, saying it’s a disservice to Nigerians.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that the law underwent thorough legislative scrutiny, including public hearings, before its passage.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, conducting credible elections, and protecting electoral integrity.
Tinubu argued that the Act represents a collective effort to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system and consolidate democratic rule.
He urged Nigerians to support the reforms, saying they are essential for national development and democratic stability.
The opposition, however, has expressed concerns that the Act undermines democratic progress and favors the ruling party.
